Facebook just recently promoted a desktop application Messenger for your Facebook contacts. It seems to be less stable than they were expecting... I continually have it freeze up when trying to minimize, or close. Maybe Facebook should stick to web apps?
Workaround: Use an alternative service that lets you chat with facebook friends. E.x.
