Facebook Messenger Freezes when I press 'X'

Facebook just recently promoted a desktop application Messenger for your Facebook contacts. It seems to be less stable than they were expecting... I continually have it freeze up when trying to minimize, or close. Maybe Facebook should stick to web apps?

Workaround: Use an alternative service that lets you chat with facebook friends. E.x. Trillian

[SOLVED] Your access to Facebook was redirected or blocked by a third party at this time, please contact your ISP or reload.

This started happening to me randomly while trying to chat with friends tonight. Would not let me send any messages over chat.

Fix: Open a new browser (not the one youre currently on) and log into facebook. Fixed

How to Claim a Username in Facebook

Do you administer a Facebook fan page? Mmm... may be not. But at least you may have a Facebook profile. Isn't it? How do you direct your friends to your profile? Most probably you may send your profile URL to your friends and families. And when it comes to pages, you can invite your friends too. But when you share your profile or page, wouldn't it better if it can be easily sharable or easy to remember?

Facebook has a feature for you to choose usernames for your profiles and pages. By having a username, it will affected to  your profile or page URL too. Once you selected a username for your profile or page, it will be started to appear in the profile or page URL. So your Facebook username will make it easier for your friends to find you on Facebook and having a username for pages make it easier for you to promote your Facebook fan page.

Before You Go:
* If you wanna set an username for your fan page, you need to have at least 25 fans to be eligible to set an username.

Steps:
1. Sign in to your Facebook account.
2. Navigate to Facebook Username page.

3. As you have no username for your profile, Facebook will offer you relevant username suggestions for your personal profile according to your display name. But if you are not happy with them, you can enter your own username. However if you are looking for claiming username for your fan page, select your particular fan page from Page Name drop down box and enter desired username for your page.

4. Now click Check Availability button.

5. If your entered username is available, you will prompt to confirm it. Click Confirm button on the pop up. Else try another username.

Note: Facebook allows you to change your username set for your profile only once. But for pages, you can't edit or transfer username once you confirmed it.
Enjoy :-)

How do I install the Facebook Like button on my website / blog / forum ?

Facebook offers a very simple button generator:
http://developers.facebook.com/docs/reference/plugins/like/

Tutorial for Facebook Like/Fan Box For Blogger

This tutorial is for everyone who has already created a Facebook Fan Page. If have not created one, try making one. A Fan Box or Like Box allows your Blog visitors to like your Facebook fan page, without leaving your blog. It can also display faces of the “likers” on your blog. To add the fan box to blogger, follow these steps:
1. Find out your Facebook Fan Page URL. To do that, just visit your Facebook Fan Page, and copy the url in the address bar.
image
In my case it is http://www.facebook.com/bloggerplugins (The url which you see in the address bar when you visit your fan page.) .Copy this url from your address bar.
You have already copied the Facebook fan page url. Paste this into the Facebook Page URL field
image
Select the choices appropriately and you can see a live preview of the Like/Fan box.
3.Once you are satisfied with the looks of the Like Box, Click on the “Get Code” button
4. Copy the xfbml code which gets generated.
image
5. Now login to your Blogger account and go to Design > Page Elements
Click Add a Gadget Link and Add an HTML/JavaScript Gadget
image
6.Paste the generated code as the Gadget’s Content
image
and Save the Gadget.
7.Next you have to add the fb namespace to your template tag.Your template should have the specification for the fb tag that you have used. The following namespace declaration will take care of that. To declare the namespace, Go to Design/Template > Edit HTMLand find
<html
and change it to
<html xmlns:fb="https://www.facebook.com/2008/fbml"
The following screenshot will help you out.
imageThis is necessary for all FBML widgets using the fb tag.  So if you have already added the namespace while adding some other FB plugin, then you can skip this.
8.Save the Template and you should see the Fan/Like Box on your blog’s sidebar.

Another variation

If you need a simpler Like button, without any extra decorations, then visithttp://developers.facebook.com/docs/reference/plugins/like . In the code generator, paste your Facebook Fan Page’s url as the URL to Like and follow steps 3 to 5. Now you will get a simpler Like Button with count.
